I am an HCPC and BAAT registered Art Psychotherapist and Systemic Family Therapy Practitioner with Supervision training and introductory training in Mentalization Based Therapy.
I have over 10 years of experience working therapeutically and educationally alongside children and adults with complex needs in health, educational and social care settings. Working in a broad spectrum of settings has encouraged me to be as adaptable and open-minded as possible with my practice. My work employs the benefits of self-expression through the use of art materials thereby encouraging playfulness and spontaneity – this can be tailored to accommodate each person’s needs, individuality and therapeutic goals. I work Psychodynamically and holistically incorporating systemic thinking where appropriate. I have extensive experience in setting up an art therapy services, facilitating art therapy, body image, self-care and interpersonal based groups supporting clients with an eating disorder diagnosis and who have experienced trauma. Finally, as a clinical lead I have extensive experience in systemic thinking both in relation to organisations as well as within families, having offered team workshops and family therapy as part of the role. My systemic training not only informs the group work but also the individual work offering me the opportunity of thinking about the individuals within the system and how one may influence the other.
