Art Psychotherapy
“Art therapy is a form of psychotherapy that uses art media as its primary mode of expression and communication.” (BAAT, Unknown). There are countless “possibilities for emotional communication and the inherent potential for therapeutic work” (Case and Dalley, 2006) through the use of art materials. I draw inspiration from a broad range of theories such as Attachment theory, Mindfulness and Metallization Based Treatment, and the findings of pediatrician Winnicott and therefore offer a holistic intervention. This allows me to adapt to each client’s individual needs in order to provide the most effective, holistic and suitable therapy.
Through working in the here and now we can explore the impact of the past on the present, work on strategies and the difficulties that one may be experiencing. www.baat.org |

Will You Analyse My Artwork?
No. Art psychotherapy does not involve analysing the art work as symbols and images have different meanings for different people. We will be looking and thinking about the work and the creative process together. It is more of a two way discussion and my role will be to support you to explore what feels right for you as an individual.

What is an initial consultation?
We will have an initial consultation to get to know one another. This will last 50 minutes and this will be an opportunity to gain an initial understanding of your needs and expectations and for you to ask any further questions. This is a space for both of us to see if we might be a good fit.
